„This year we have in plan new investments in the logistics sector. In 2015 Carrefour signed a lease agreement with the logistics developer P3 for 81,000 sq. m (8.1 hectares) within the same logistics park where it currently operates the 4.5 ha warehouse P3 Bucharest, former Europolis Logistic Park“, says Andreea Mihai, the marketing director of Carrefour group in Romania. The French’s investment is related to the relocation of its activity in 2016 from the warehouse of 4.5 ha to other two build to suit warehouses. „In the end of this process, Carrefour Romania will operate its logistics activities in a warehouse area of 10.2 hectares“, Mihai added.

Currently, Carrefour operates in Romania two warehouses with an overall area of 6.6 hectares. One of them is 4.5 ha and is situated in Chiajna village near Bucharest, while the second is in Bacia village, near Deva, with an area of 2.1 hectares. Both warehouses are rented, following the French group’s business model, as they prefer focusing on their main activity, the retail.

Carrefour, the second largest food retailer after Kaufland, has increased last year its net sales with 13 pct. compared to 2014, to more than 1.2 billion, the group’s annual report shows.

The company has locally 190 stores with several formats and will officially take over the Billa network, with 86 supermarkets. (source: zf.ro)
