By managing the supply chain efficiently and improving operational performance, DP World focuses on meeting customers’ needs to reduce costs and accelerate delivery times, while ensuring transparency at every stage.
DP World’s groupage service is also designed to support the sustainability of companies’ supply chains. Goods are shipped by different companies on the same runs, so that empty space in trucks, ships, trains and planes is minimized, reducing the environmental footprint of each shipment.
The Operations Control Tower for DP World’s European network will be located in Bucharest. Its role will be to coordinate all the elements that make up this end-to-end service, including groupage, first/last mile delivery, warehousing, customs brokerage and multi-modal transport services. It will also develop advanced digital platforms that enable real-time management, predictive analytics and seamless communication. The choice of Bucharest reflects Romania’s strategic geographical role and DP World’s strong position in the country. The company already operates from the Port of Constanta, which serves as a gateway for shipments from Asia and provides access to the Danube, as well as the multi-modal terminal in Aiud, through which goods continue to flow to the rest of Europe by road and rail.
Kris Adams, Executive Vice President Eastern Europe, DP World, said: “This service will bring significant changes to both DP World and our customers in the region. By leveraging our extensive expertise and capabilities in road, sea, air, rail and multimodal transport, we can now move goods from the producer to the customer’s door – and do it faster, cheaper and more sustainably. This makes DP World a true force in integrated European logistics.”
The service will strengthen Romania’s position as one of Europe’s leading logistics hubs, contributing to economic growth and supporting Romanian companies by providing easier access to international markets. In addition to Romania, DP World will initially focus on Moldova, Serbia, Turkey and Bulgaria – where customer demand for integrated services has been particularly strong – before expanding the service to Central and Western Europe.
