According to company representatives, investments in the IT platform and logistics network planned for the current year will increase the quality of DPD services.

Last year, the company had a turnover of about 25.5 million Euros and a volume of parcels transported more than 30% higher than in 2015. The factors that contributed to this growth were, on the one hand, the company's investments in the sorting area, respectively the development of the pallets delivery service, but also the strong development of the Romanian e-commerce segment.

"We plan to invest in IT and software for 2017, allowing us more flexibility in developing new services and improving operational delivery quality. (...) We also estimate an increase in the volume of international parcels, taking into account the market dynamics and the position of the DPD brand globally", said Lucian Aldescu, CEO of DPD Romania.

With regard to the Romanian courier market, DPD representatives estimate an increase of up to 15% compared to 2016.

"Even if the official figures are not yet available, our estimate for 2016 is that the courier market reached a value of 380 million Euros. For 2017, our forecast shows a plus of 12% -15%, up to a minimum of 425 million. Next, online sales will continue to play an important role in local courier developments this year", the head of DPD Romania said.

With a team of over 1,200 employees and franchisors, DPD Romania delivers over 10 million parcels a year. (Source: forbes.ro)
