In 2015, the reference year for cereals traffic, Romania registered a record traffic of 20 million tonnes.

The traffic growth was also registered in compost heap and chemicals, metallic products, crude oil, minerals and non-ferrous waste, steel minerals and steel waste.

The container traffic registered during January-November 6,444,656 tonnes (2.75 percent), respectively 661,908 TEU (5.74 percent), compared with the same period of 2015, when it stood at 6,272,258 tonnes, respectively 626,002 TEU.

According to the source, the total merchandise traffic registered in the Romanian sea ports was of 54,44 million tonnes in the first 11 months of 2016, compared with 51.67 million tonnes in the same period of 2015, which was a growth if 5.35 percent.

Out of the total traffic, 19.67 million tonnes accounted for exported freight, 17.22 million imported freight, 12.42 million tonnes represents transit freight and 5.11 million tones of cabotage.

The sea traffic was 42.30 million tonnes (39.97 million tonnes at November 30 2015) and the traffic was 12.13 million tonnes. (source: business-review.eu)
