„Currently, Gorenje group owns factories in Slovenia, Serbia and the Czech Republic. Of course, the company’s interest was and still is to expand the production lines and the infrastructure, and Romania is one of the plausible versions in case of expansion“, said Damir Drazetic during an interview given to the local press.
The Romanian market became lately a hub of home appliances manufacture, as Turkish’s Arctic also announced a new investment, as well as German Karcher. Other factories on local plan include Philips, Electrolux or De’Longhi.
Gorenje obtained last year on the local market businesses of EUR 17 million, following 30 pct. increase of sales on a market which increased with 12 pct, according to Drazetic. Currently, Gorenje has in Romania import and distribution operations.
„Romania is a country with huge potential and Gorenje noticed that since 20 years ago, when it started delivering products through local distributors. Meantime, in order for operations to be efficient, we chose to open a subsidiary, followed eventually by the takeover of all the operational processes. " (Source: zf.ro)
