The new terminal, which will supply cement mainly to Holcim customers in the counties of Moldova, namely Bacau, Neamt, Vaslui, Iasi, Botosani and Suceava, completes the extensive national network of terminals and warehouses of the company.
With an area of 13,120 m2, the state-of-the-art terminal is connected to the railway network and has loading and unloading equipment for both bulk cement and cement packaged in bags. Loading / unloading facilities and automated equipment are designed to improve the customer's business experience and reduce the time required to make and deliver orders.
"With this new cement terminal in Roman, we come closer to local partners and take a step towards supporting a region that needs sustainable and technologically advanced solutions and products to progress, continue developing the infrastructure network, and build new public utility and real estate projects. We are aware of the needs of customers in the region to be able to build together and to support their efforts. This new terminal covers and meets the development plans of our local partners", said Sofiane Benmaghnia, Holcim Romania's General Manager.
The first direct benefit for local customers, in addition to volume availability, is to streamline delivery times. The city of Roman - an important commercial hub in the region - allows an efficient distribution of products on the Bacau - Iasi - Suceava route. Also, in the context in which Holcim focuses on the strategic direction of sustainable development, the terminal promises to reduce both carbon footprint and accident risk through the alternative rail distribution solution.
Cement to be delivered to customers in the region via the Roman terminal will be transported by rail from the two local factories of Campulung and Alesd. (source: constructiv.ro)
