According to the company, it is the biggest investment in Europe, estimated at 22 million Euros.

Prysmian took over in 2005 the production unit in 2005 from Pirelli, the factory being set up in 1973.

The new unit to be inaugurated is basically an extension of the old one, which also started the production of fibre optic cables for the central transport and access networks in 2009. The constructions started in 2015 and the investment is EUR 22 million. 
According to the company's website, the production capacity of the plant will reach 8 million kilometres of cable, compared to 4.5 million kilometres today. The first factory already employs 1,400 Romanian workers.

According to a note sent to investors, the group announced for 2016 total investments of 222 million Euros, compared to 210 million in 2015. (source: constructiv.ro)
