Last year, he bought the Mesta stone factory in Băicoi, renovated it almost entirely, endowing it with state-of-the-art technology, and is set to launch a new brand. The total investment will amount to 1.8 million euros.
"Initially, I did not intend to enter this business, I was more interested in real estate investment. But after discussing with the Mesta employees who had lost their jobs, I decided to document myself, because I am very attached to the local community. Reading about the stone, I discovered its beauty and potential and I decided to get involved", Dragos Irimescu said.
The stone comes from quarries in Turkey, India and Greece. Shelves and semi-shelves are cut and processed in the production unit, which has a cutting capacity of 500 m / 8 h and a 120 m sticking rod within 8 hours.
The warehouse has a very large total capacity, currently stocking products of approximately 12,000 m2.
"My priority at this point is to strengthen the sales force. We are looking for good and serious people. In the medium and long term, the desire is to educate the market on the use of natural stone in construction, because it has a lot of qualities and advantages. And our pricing policy will encourage the advancement of natural stone, which should not be a luxury or an exclusive product", Dragos Irimescu explained.
In addition to the stone business, which will operate under the company Polnebo Construct, Dragoş Irimescu manages Polnebo, one of Romania's leading roof and tent accessories distributors. In parallel, the Irimescu family is involved in two residential real estate projects: Stegarului Boutique Apartments and a second project on the shores of Lake Străuleşti.
