The investment project will also create 140 new working places, increasing the production up to 60,000 tonnes of metallic cord per year by 2019.

The factory Michelin Zalău Cord is a strategic unit for the group, through its production of metallic cord and metallic assemblies, those being a vital component in the tires production. With more than 90 pct. of the metallic cord production being exported, the factory Michelin Zalău Cord cichelin factories around the world, on three continents, Europe, America and Asia.

"Throughout the year, the cord factory in Zalau played an important role in the growth strategy of Michelin Group. The very good results sustained by a constant progress as well as the agility and expertise of the teams made the cord factory in Zalau to gain the Group’s trust in order to take over new innovative projects", has declared Sean Parry, Director of the Industrial Platoform Michelin in Zalău.

The factory’s goal is to produce metallic cords for the production of the Michelin tires, insuring products in compliance with the international standards with a competitive cost, thus contributing to the Group’s growth. 
Michelin has been operating in Romania since 2001 and has three factories, two in Zalau  and one in Floresti. Its investments on the local market, comprising in the upgrade of the plants and staff training, reached EUR 400 million. Michelin Romania has 3,300 employees. (source: dailybusiness.ro)
