It was the first decline in the last six months, and it was related to the evolution of the mining industry, whose contraction continued, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).

 

The turnover in the mining industry was 42% lower in July compared to the same month last year while the turnover in the manufacturing industry went down by 2.2%.

 

Two industry groups recorded large drops in July. The energy industry decreased by 33.5% year-on-year whereas the intermediate goods industry went down by 4.5%. The largest increase was recorded by the durable goods industry, up 8.1% in July compared to the same month in 2015.

 

In June, the local industry’s turnover rose by 3.2% compared to the same month in 2015, after an advance of 5.6% in May.

 

Overall, the turnover of the companies in industry rose by 3.1% in the first seven months of this year compared to the same period last year. (source: Romania-insider.com)
