In March, the industrial production went up by 2.9% year-on-year. Overall, in the first four months, the industrial production grew by 1.2% compared to the same period of 2015.

 

The mining industry went down by almost 20% in April 2016 compared to April 2015, and by 18% in the first four months. The energy industry was only 0.1% up in April and 2.8% down in the first four months. The manufacturing industry, however, gained 4.5% in April and was up 2.4% in the first four months.

 

The tobacco industry showed the biggest production increase in April, of 61.5%, followed by the coke industry (+42%) and the electrical equipment industry (+22.2%).

In 2015, Romania’s industrial production went up by 2.7% compared to 2014. Industry’s contribution to the GDP was 23.2%. (source: Romania-insider.com)
