Bilka Steel buys Romlag Brasov. Promises investments of EUR 5 mln

Metalic tile producer Bilka Steel completed the takeover of Romlag Brasov, according to a press-release from the company.

Trade deficit down to EUR 249 mln in January; exports up 6.3 pct

Romania recorded a trade deficit of EUR 249 million last month, lower by EUR 49.8 million compared to the deficit recorded in January 2013. Exports went up 6.3 percent in euro, rising faster than imports (4.6 percent), according to data released by the National Statistics Institute on Wednesday.

Romania, EU’s 2nd highest increase in industrial production in January

Industrial production grew by 2.1 percent in the euro zone and by 2.4 percent in the EU28 in January 2014, compared with January 2013, with the highest increases being registered in Luxembourg and Romania, show figures released on Wednesday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.

Alstom aims to turn Romania into regional hub for power, transport

France’s Alstom, the engineering group, plans to hire up to 50 IT engineers in the next three years, as part of a wider strategy designed to develop local operations into a specialized export center for the power and transport markets in Eastern Europe, said on Wednesday Gilbert Porcherot, president of Alstom Romania.
