The company Astra Rail Management was owned by the German entrepreneur Thomas Manns. He took over in 2012 the wagon factories previously owned the local entrepreneur Cristian Burci. The companies Astra Vagoane Arad, Meva SA and Romvag Caracal, insolvent since 2010 and included in the international group Railway Systems, controlled by Cristian Burci, were bought in 2012 for more than EUR 30 million by a joint venture made by two companies registered in Germany and the Netherlands, controlled by Thomas Manns (39 years), which managed the factories through Astra Rail Management.

The major share of this company was bought for EUR 60 million by the giant Greenbrier, with businesses of nearly 3 billion dollars annually.

Therefore, Greenbrier, a company with business in Europe and North America, merged with Astra Rail Management GmbH, according to an official realease. (source: zf.ro)
