The investment in the new factory was EUR 36 million and it has created 200 working places.

The new production unit in Cugir covers an area of 11,000 sqm and produces four new models planetary gear for the new 9G-Tronic gearboxes, produced in Romania too, in the company’s factory in Sebes.

According to Daimler’s officials in Romania, the group’s sustainable growth strategy also included the personnel qualification in its factories from Germany and the implementation of new technologies.

This investment follows the EUR 13 million investment from 2016, which involved the construction of a new production facility within the same plant Star Transmission became, following the investment from 2016, sole world supplier of high pressure tubing for gas engines.

Daimler group is developing a long term sustainable development strategy for the two communities, offering jobs for its 2,600 employees, through its two Romanian companies, Star Transmission (Cugir) and Star Assembly (Sebes).

Star Transmission, a production unit considered strategic for the Daimler group, was created in 2001, as a result of a Romanian-German joint-venture. In 2013, Daimler became sole shareholder of Star Transmission Cugir and opened an assembly line, Star Assembly Sebes, therefore becoming one of the most important foreign investments in Romania.
