In the European Union, the construction works declined 4.7 per cent on an annual pace in the month of August and in the Eurozone they registered a 2.5 per cent increase. Only six member states registered an increase in construction works in an annual pace in the month of August, while other nine states witnessed decreases.

However, according to Eurostat, in August 2013 compared with the previous month, the construction works in Romania registered a 1.1 per cent drop, after in July Romania had registered the highest growth in construction works in the European Union, 9.5 per cent.

The construction works in the EU registered a 0.4 per cent increase and in the Eurozone they advanced 0.5 per cent in the month of August 2013, compared with the previous month. In Romania’s case, according to the data presented by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), in August 2013, reported to the previous month, the construction works volume grew as gross series 1.4 perc ent and as, working day and seasonally adjusted data, it decreased 1 percent.
