One year after signing the concession agreement, Avant Airports announces significant progress in the development of Alexeni Airport, designed to become the largest cargo hub in Eastern Europe. So far, the Master Plan and the documentation preceding the detailed design have been completed, in partnership with the consulting firm NACO. Technical studies for the next stage of construction are also underway.

The airport will be capable of operating all types of aircraft, including the Boeing 747 Cargo, and will include facilities for cargo and low-cost airlines, with modern infrastructure and competitive fares.

A major objective is accessibility: the airport will have a direct rail connection to Bucharest, with an estimated transfer time of 45–50 minutes. The project will be integrated into the General Transport Master Plan of Romania.

Avant Airports is in advanced discussions with international investors from the USA, Switzerland, Finland and India for financing. A public consultation will also be launched to collect suggestions on the terminal facilities.

The conceptual design of the airport will be presented in April 2025, along with details about its architecture and functionality.
