At the end of last month, Knauf Insulation, a division of the German Knauf Group, began production of glass mineral wool in Romania following an investment of over €140 million in a manufacturing facility acquired three years ago in Târnăveni.
The company previously announced that the new Huedin factory would create over 100 jobs, ranging from skilled workers to automation and maintenance engineers.
Knauf’s Growth in RomaniaConstruction of the Knauf Insulation plant in Târnăveni began in early 2023 after the company acquired the Gecsat glass mineral wool factory in Târnăveni, Mureș County, in 2022.
Knauf Insulation has been present in Romania since 2008, producing insulation materials such as glass mineral wool, basalt mineral wool, and Heraklith wood fiber boards. Globally, Knauf Insulation employs nearly 6,000 people in 40 countries, operating 28 production facilities across 15 countries.
As part of the Knauf Group, the company benefits from a strong international presence, with 40,000 employees in 90 countries and 300 factories worldwide. In 2021, Knauf Group reported €12.5 billion in sales.
