Production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, steam and air conditioning decreased by 3.9 percent. By main industrial groups, there were increases in most categories of goods: durable goods industry (+11.5 percent), capital goods industry (+11.1 percent), intermediate goods industry (7,9 percent) and durable goods industry (+4.5 percent). The energy industry decreased by 3.6 percent.

The same INS shows that Romania’s primary energy resources decreased by 11.6 percent in the first nine months of 2013 compared to the same period of the previous year. Thus, between Jan. 1 – Sept. 30, the main primary energy resources totalled 22.675 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), down by 2.989 million toe y-o-y.

According to the cited source, domestic production totalled 15.891 million toe, 6.9 percent less compared to the same period of the year before, while imports of energy amounted to 6.784 million toe, down 21.1 percent.

In the period of reference, electricity resources amounted to 42.625 billion kWh, down 2.811 billion kWh (- 6.2 percent) compared to the similar period of 2012. At the same time, the output of thermal power plants stood at 18.489 billion kWh, down by 5.812 billion kWh (- 23.9 percent).

The end-use electricity consumption over the said period stood at 36.857 billion kWh, by 7 percent lower compared to the similar period of 2012.Three-quarter electricity exports stood at 1.049 billion KWh, up by 121.4 million kWh (+ 13.1 percent). (source: nineoclock.ro)
