“We do not think economy will grow very much in order to help logistic industry to grow too. We must adapt to the market in order to survive. We will continue investments and want to build 10,000 square meters at Petresti (Dambovita county), in addition to the 20,000 square meters project we already have there. FM Logistic is ready to make bigger investments in Romania in the next 5 years,” said Catalin OLteanu, the general manager of FM Logistic at the conference Transport & Logistics 2015 organized by Ziarul Financiar.

 

He declared that from an optimistic point of view the 10,000 sq.m. From Petresti can be delivered in the Fall of 2015, or at the beginning of 2016, according to requests of company customers, retail and consumer goods companies.

 

FM Logistic also has in view to extend the park already held in Timisoara and buy land for a project close to Bucharest. The company owns logistic warehouses in the Bucharest area, Chiajna and Petresti, at Dudestii Noi, close to Timisoara and in Cluj and Bacau.

 

In his turn, Emil Ion, managing director of the logistic, transport and customs commissioning company Wim Bosman Romania, showed that investments in the local market will increase to 1- 1.2 million euros.

 

“The company has invested about 10 million euros in the last 14 years. We want to build 5,000 sq.m. In Ploiesti logistic park this year. We also have land for the development of 40,000- 50,000 sq.m. of logistic areas. Investments will be 1-1.2 million euros for the development and adaptation of existing services, to supplement the storage capacity and increase the fleet,” said the representative of the company, part of the New Zealand group Mainfreight.

 

He says that the lack of road infrastructure in Romania should not hinder the development of business and any barrier should be turned into opportunity.“The development of business should be made regardless of any project whose carrying out we can control,”Emil Ion said.

 

Adrian Palasan, the founding member of ARILOG, the association of logistic companies, considers that the logistic market can develop with new projects, but there is a problem with labour force.

“Other companies will come, there are three important players who want areas of over 30,000 sq.m. Projects are in the analysis stage. Many areas will be built but there is a problem with human resources, as we do not have a specialised school to teach professionals,”Palasan said.
