The Romanian National Company of Motorways and National Roads (CNADNR) put to auction the construction of the Sebes – Turda motorway in July, at an estimated cost close to RON 2.5 bln (EUR 554 M), or nearly EUR 8 M/km.
At the end of last week, the government passed a decision for modifying another decision dating from 2008, which approves the technical and economic indicators of the Sebes – Turda expressway. “The total value of the investment is RON 4.6 bln (EUR 1.03 bln), with the financing secured from the cohesion fund and the state budget, through the budget of the General Secretariat of the Government, for the Department of Infrastructure Projects and Foreign Investments,” the government explains in a press note.
The document does not mention whether the new price includes only the construction cost, or other costs too, such as those with expropriations. Until the closing of the newspaper issue, neither the Department for Infrastructure Projects and Foreign Investments, which controls CNADNR, nor the government answered the ZF question about the reason for doubling the cost of the Sebes – Turda motorway through the government decision passed Friday.
