"Thus, on the occasion of the joint session of the Romanian and Bulgarian governments, held on April 24, they decided to begin with the feasibility study for the bridge between Turnu Magurele and Nicopole. The authorities will apply thus for financing via the INTERREG V-A Romania-Bulgaria 2014-2020 programme, under the current call, as opened on March 26 this year. Later on, the authorities from the two countries will submit the actual project with the 'Connecting Europe Facility' and/or will try to get funds from other sources to be agreed by both sides," informed the abovementioned source.

According to the MDRAP, the pre-feasibility study that was done last year showed that "the total estimated value of the investment project could reach up to 208.9 million euros."

The INTERREG V-A Romania-Bulgaria 2014-2020 programme is among the first of the INTERREG programmes having launched calls for projects, with a total available budget worth 208.1 million euros.

Moreover, at the joint session of the Romania and Bulgarian governments, they discussed about "the coordination of the two countries' steps in respect to the Danube Strategy," with development ministers Liviu Dragnea and Lilyana Pavlova following "to mediate meetings between the local authorities on both sides of the border for a better coordination of the projects under the Danube Strategy."

"Through the Regional Operational Programme, Romania intends to draw 439 million euros for its 12 counties riparian to the Danube, funds to be invested in projects that will be part of the Danube Strategy," announced the MDRAP. (Sursa: actmedia.eu)
