The second biggest manufacturer in Europe's glassware field, third biggest manufacturer in flat glass field and fourth biggest manufacturer in glass packaging field in terms of production capacity, Sisecam Group has completed a new automotive glass plant with an investment of € 65 million within the scope of GlassCorp S.A. company acquired in Romania in 2012.
Prof. Ahmet Kirman said that Sisecam is the 3rd largest manufacturer in Europe and the 6th largest manufacturer in the world in flat glass industry and continued to say, “Our sales revenue has reached $ 1 billion in flat glass thanks to our recent investments made in line with our organic and inorganic growth plans. Today we are proud to introduce everyone to one of our important investments in automotive glass, which is a strategic business line for Sisecam.”
“We focused on investment opportunities in Romania in 2012 not only because of our technological development and capacity increase requirements, but also our efforts towards expanding our reach. Romania left other alternatives behind because of its close proximity to Europe’s mature and developing markets, the power of its technological infrastructure, its qualified human resources and, above all, its investment incentive facilities,” said Kirman.
Stating this modern facility, which is the largest automotive glass manufacturer of Romania with capacity of 800,000 tool sets/year of GlassCorp factory equipped with advanced technology, Kirman said, “We are also proud that we will be contributing to Buzau, and thus Romanian economy, with 300 new job opportunities besides our production and export activities. This investment is one of the most important steps taken towards the development of automotive supply and glass industries in Romania, and will gain even further strength with the long-established, friendly and cooperative relations between Romania and Turkey.”
