Therefore, IKEA makes “on paper” its first step towards furniture manufacturing in Romania, considering the group is already manufacturing furniture in ten countries through its IKEA Industry division.
Furniture manufacturing could be next on the list of the group, which is present locally in retail (IKEA România), in real estate development (Vastint), as well as in wood business (IRI Investments).
IRI Investments reached 46,700 ha of forests in Romania, being the largest private owner of “green gold”.
IKEA is the only large furniture retailer locally, without its own production in Romania, while its competitors Mobexpert, Elvila, Lem’s, Casa Rusu or Naturlich bet on stores, as well as on their own factories. (source: zf.ro)
