The information comes from the Slovak newspaper Hospodarske Noviny. The company is called Zhi Dou and is known for producing small class electric cars. The press in Slovakia writes that Romania offers much higher subsidies.
The Slovak press wrote at the end of 2017 that Zhi Dou wants to open a car factory in the region and would like to invest 400 million euros to get 3,000 cars a month. Six countries were listed then, but the list has now dropped to two.
The Slovak newspaper writes that the Chinese group is interested in the Kosice region in the eastern part of the country, but also notes that Romania offers higher subsidies and the labor force is cheaper. According to the Slovak publication, in Romania companies can receive subsidies of 50% of the value of the investment, while Slovakia would provide only 35%.
Two years ago in Romania it was even talked about the possibility that Tesla would open a factory for Model Y production. (source: auto-bild.ro)
