The new plant is designed to provide heat and energy on the site, and is fueled by wood waste.

“The Egger plant in Radauti is a strategic location for the Egger group. The company has continued to develop the Radauti plant in a production unit that is completely integrated through the construction of a biomass plant,” said Ioan Banciu, technical director at Egger Radauti.

He added the company fully financed the investment which required 13 months of construction and was completed in October 2013.

According to grid operator Transelectrica, Romania had little over 50MW of incentivized biomass capacities by September 2013.  Egger’s biomass plant is the largest to date. Most of the investors have focused on small biomass projects up to 5MW. (source: business-review.eu)
