The smell related to tire production has decreased by up to 80%, according to preliminary results. German lab Braunschweiger Umwelt-Biotechnologie carried out the measures between December 1 and December 4.

German group Continental set up the greenfield project Continental Tires Timisoara in 1998 and started the production two years later. The group has invested some EUR 370 million in the factory.

In 2014, Continental Automotive Products, the local company that operates the tire factory in Timisoara, had a turnover of almost EUR 600 million and a net profit of EUR 134 million. Its results make it Continental’s biggest business in Romania.
