Romania’s trade balance surplus in relation to the Eastern Partnership has gone up to EUR 378 million between January and June 2013 from EUR 239 million in the same period of 2012. Overall, the European Union reported a EUR 3.3 billion surplus in the first quarter of 2012 from trade exchanges with the six states within the European Partnership, compared to the EUR 0.7 billion surplus in the same period of 2012.

EU exports have gone up from EUR 18 billion to EUR 19.4 billion, while imports have dropped from EUR 17.3 billion to EUR 16.1 billion. Germany was the biggest exporter to those six states among EU27 Member States in the first six months of this year, with EUR 4.7 billion, followed by Poland with EUR 3 billion, and Italy with EUR 1.6 billion.
