The number of employees saw a slight increase compared to 2014, the growth coming mainly from the IT research-development center in Cluj-Napoca. In 2015, Siemens SRL developed its IT research-development activities in Cluj-Napoca, where the company plans on hiring over 200 people until 2017, adds the press release. This is the company’s fourth research-development center in Romania and was opened in August 2014 after an in intial investment of EUR 4.5 million.
The financial results were in line with the company’s global strategy, according to George Catalin Costache, CEO Siemens SRL. “In 2016 there are opportunities on the local market due to the European funds allocated to Romania for 2014-2020. The future depends on intelligent infrastructure that makes production and transport energy more efficient, helps optimize traffic and contributes to the high performance of industrial processes,” added Costache.
The year 2015 also marked the 110th anniversary of Siemens’s local presence in Romania.
Siemens owns four factories in Sibiu and Buzias, which produce systems and components for automation and industrial applications, and two research-development centers in Bucharest, Brasov and Cluj-Napoca. (source: business-review.eu)
