The ongoing project will increase nearly five times the company’s portfolio, up to an area of approx. 73,000 sq. m. The company enters in competition with CTP and P3, investors which bought this year industrial properties of more than EUR 270 million and also prepare new developments.

In the following period, WDP will deliver 16,000 sq. m warehouse developed in Brăila for the Japanese auto parts manufacturer Yazaki. The tenant signed with WDP a 15 years lease, with expanding option. The project, developed on a concessioned plot, involves an investment of nearly EUR 9 million, sustained by the company’s own capital.

The Belgians are investing in Romania through the company WDP Development RO, owned by WDP (51 pct.) and by the businessman Jeroen Biermans (49 pct.)

The developer also signed a lease for 10 year with the Polish auto parts distributor Inter Cars for a warehouse on 5,000 sq. m in Brasov, similar to the one already rented by the company in the same industrial park. The project, with a value of EUR 2 million, will be delivered by the end of the year.

Near the warehouse on 7,000 sq. m built last year by WDP in Ploieşti for the Spanish hydraulic components manufacturer Grupo Industrial Roquet, the developer started the construction of a new warehouse on 12,000 sq. m for the auto parts manufacturer Federal-Mogul. The new building will be delivered to the Americans by the end of this year and involves EUR 7 million investments. Federal-Mogul signed a lease for 10 years with WDP for the facilies.

Apart the three ongoing projects, the Belgian company also signed a lease agreement for 10 years with the French auto parts manufacturer Faurecia, for a warehouse on 12,000 sq. m in Râmnicu Vâlcea. The delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2016, following EUR 8 million investments.

WDP has another two projects in development, both in Sibiu. One project is situated near the airport and represents the development of 8,000 sq. m warehouse for Siemens, while the other is a project including warehouse and offices on nearly 4,500 sq. m for the courier company DPD. Siemens rented the space for ten years and DPD signed for 15 years. The projects are scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2016 and WDP estimates the total development cost at nearly EUR 8 million.

WDP owns in Romania more than 86 ha of available plots for industrial development. The value of the local assets of the company was EUR 32.2 million in the end of the first half of the year.

WDP is controlled by the family Jos De Pauw, which occupies the 48th places in a top of the richest families in Belgium, with a fortune estimated at EUR 353 million, according to the publication De Rijkste Belgen. (source: capital.ro)
