In this regard, the company purchased a plot of land with a total area of 70,000 square meters and will carry out an investment of 20 million euros.
“The constant development of the last years and the need to meet our customers contributed to the decision to make the new investment. We chose the Popeşti Leordeni area, in the Southeast of Bucharest, because we will be in the vicinity of the A2 highway and the future belt ring of Bucharest A0, thus benefiting from the local infrastructure. In addition, by inaugurating the new hub, we will increase our storage capacity, which will eventually translate into the diversification of the portfolio and the number of customers,” said Viorel Leca, General Manager of Gebruder Weiss Romania.
According to his statements, with the inauguration of the new hub, the company will show even greater efficiency in covering deliveries. In addition, the access to the highway to Constanţa will give the company the advantage of making the connection with the seaside terminal more efficient.
“The growing agglomeration of daily traffic in Bucharest made a second hub in the east of the city necessary. The new solution with two logistics terminals in Bucharest makes distribution within and around the Capital more efficient. We are building the new cross-docking terminal to standards Gebruder Weiss to enable further business growth in the local distribution area and to expand the customer portfolio. Also, for the further development of home delivery services, we offer a suitable cross-docking area,” he said at for his part, Thomas Moser, Director and Regional Manager Black Sea/CIS Gebruder Weiss.
According to the statements of Viorel Leca, the construction of the new terminal has already started, and it will be put into use at the end of the current year.
