In Romania, the Japanese company Takata has two factories in Arad, one producing steering wheels and one safety belts, and another in Sibiu where airbags are produced.

Takata, one of the largest auto parts manufacturers, has worked for months to complete the deal with Key Safety. According to Reuters sources, Key is expected to acquire shares in Takata as part of its bankruptcy restructuring plan.

Japanese newspaper Nikkei reported that a new company created by Key will buy Takata operations for $ 1.6 billion and will continue to deliver air bags, safety belts and other products.

In January, Takata pleaded guilty and will pay a million dollars due to airbag problems that led to the deaths of 16 people in the world. Takata was also accused of injuring 180 people. (source: mediafax.ro)
