Romania’s National Company for Highways (CNADNR) awarded the contract to a Romanian-Spanish joint venture made of Corsan SA, Corviam Construccion SA, Consinit SRL, Road Consulting & Design Solution SRL, and Via Design SRL.
The companies will complete the 3C section of Brasov -Targu Mures – Cluj – Oradea highway in Romania, between Suplacu de Barcau and Bors. The section is 60-km long, and half of it was done by American company Bechtel.
The contract has an estimated duration of 24 months, plus an additional warranty period of 30 months, according to a statement of CNADNR. The total value of the contract is EUR 197 million, including VAT.
The Suplacu de Barcau – Bors section is part of the Transylvania highway. Work on this segment started in 2007 as part of the Transylvania project which was supposed to be built by Bechtel.
The EUR 2.2 billion contract to build the 415-kilometer highway between Brasov and Bors was approved by the Romanian state in 2003. The contract was modified several times and in 2013 it was canceled. (source: Romania-insider.com)
