The title was handed by the U.S. Embassy's economic counsellor Michael Stewart in an event held at the Romina Furniture factory in Baldana, Dambovita County.

Economic advisor Michael Stewart congratulated the entrepreneur and underscored the role of the programme run by the Embassy and said it is important that the business had led to the creation of jobs in the area.

Romina Furniture has some 100 employees.

The U.S. Embassy awards titles, each month of 2015, to one outstanding entrepreneur. The project aims at promoting entrepreneurs in all sectors of the Romanian economy.

'An entrepreneur sees the existing potential in a new idea and takes a daring and often risky step, using only his/her qualities, perseverance and courage to turn that idea into reality. Through the programme 'Entrepreneur of the Month,' the embassy brings to the forefront entrepreneurs who capitalize on unique opportunities existing in various industrial sectors and regions of Romania,'' reads a release issued by the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest.

The spouses Florentina and Dumitru Toader set up in 2002 the children's furniture company. Worldwide, more than 10,000 children, most of them in the U.S., sleep in the beds made by Romina. The company's production is exported 90pct to the U.S.

''The spouses Toader noted the existence of a niche market un-capitalized on in the U.S.: environmentally-friendly and high-quality furniture for children (...). The place won by Romina on the American market demonstrates the importance of the free trade between the U.S. and the EU,'' reads the U.S. Embassy's release. (source: actmedia.eu)
