As a result of its continuous concern to provide maximum energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact, CTP invests EUR 3 Million to reduce energy consumption at CTPark Bucharest West by upgrading to new Smart LED technology both interior lighting of the buildings and the exterior lighting in the entire park. Out of these amount, EUR 650,000 were used to upgrade the 5 warehouses that were acquired as part of CTPark Bucharest West. These warehouses were upgraded to benefit from unique features that will provide significant cost savings for the tenants. The rest of the investment is destined for the implementation of the most performant lighting system on the new warehouses, built on the extension of the park, out of which two are fully operational and already in use and two will be finalized shortly. The value of the investment in the Smart LED technology for the new buildings is currently of approximately EUR 1 million.
The overall investment of EUR 3 million is expected to yield a 30% reduction in energy consumption, savings which directly supports CTP’s clients bottom line. Moreover, the facilities from CTPark Bucharest West were upgraded to benefit from the latest generation ventilation, air conditioning equipment and waterproofing system that provide all together maximum energy efficiency.
The BREEAM certification is a novelty on the Romanian logistics market, and it is yet another proof of CTP’s commitment to ensure the best environment for its current and future tenants. They will benefit from special technological characteristics that will provide lower costs for the utilities consumption on long term and greater efficiency. The buildings characteristics are above the standards of the market. Some of them, such as the thickness of the walls which is 15 cm and that of the roof which is 24 cm, are unique on the logistics segment. Both the intelligent heating and cooling system and the illuminating hatches from the ceilings contributes to the major energy and cost savings. For example, the indoor temperature is an ideal one throughout the year: about 14-15 degrees in winter and 22 degrees in summer in conditions of maximum eficiency. Thus, the BREAAM certification will come as a recognition of the high-end quality of materials and systems used by CTP.
“We intend to set new standards on the Romanian logistics sector, where green certification and green leases are yet new features. CTP will not only become the biggest and the fastest growing industrial park owner in the country, but also the first to offer its tenants warehouses that incorporate the technologies of the future, and to be internationally recognized by a BREEAM certification”, said Ana Dumitrache, Country Head of CTP Romania.
BREEAM is the world's leading sustainability assessment method for masterplanning projects, infrastructure and buildings, and measures sustainable value in a series of categories ranging from energy to ecology.
CTP, as a long-term owner of its buildings, implemented internationally energy efficiency and resource savings measures all across its portfolio. All materials used to build the warehouses are acquired from ISO certified suppliers. Generous green spaces surround the facilities and ensure the preservation of natural life in the area. Low emissions and the low use of harmful refrigerants place the warehouses high in the green industrial buildings ranking.
